Hello, I am new to this forum and look forward to spending time and learning what I need to know about Mac and iPhone I currently own an iPod touch and I love the idea of having a small computer in my pocket that I can whip out at anytime and do everything that I need to do to keep my life in order.

I have come across some gps applications that I would really like to use and obviously the touch does not support gps. My question is can I get an I phone like off of e-bay and without the phone contract and use these gps applications. If so what do I need to know about the phone or anything else that could give a surprise I might not be happy with. I am speaking about having the phone unlocked etc. Thanks

Apple calls it "iPhone", not "I phone". :D

mean...

I know you can use the iPhone without the data part but you wont get the maps. So depending on the ap it may require the data stream to get it. Of course you may be able to get it with wifi.

Yes you can if you get it off eBay or Craigslist.
