I'm able to use the Homepod as a speaker phone with my iPhone no problem.

I'd like to do the same from my Mac. I do a lot of calls using WebEx. From the Mac I'm able to select the Homepod as an Airplay output device but am unable to it as an available input source.

I assume this is because the Mac only treats the Homepod as an airplay speaker and not a bluetooth device with a microphone - but wanted to double check if I'm missing anything.

Thanks!

I'd say you hit the nail on the head regarding the reason why its not able to do what you want it too. That's not a bad idea to use it, though, I could see myself doing the very same thing

The HomePod is currently a really closed and controlled device... Reminds me of the first iPhones.

I sure hope they open it up: use of the bluetooth 5.0 & accessible microphones to start with... Integration in HomeKit-scenes...
