Hi

I would like to use my iDisk space as a simple mirror of my project directories and also to keep the directories synchronised between 2 Macs. I use Subversion for work but I just want something simple for my own stuff. iDisk coupled with a simple app or shell script would be ideal. Anyone got any recommendations?

thanks in advance!

In System Preferences you can tell .Mac to create a local copy of your iDisk on your hard drive, which will then sync back to .Mac. But you'd have to be careful to not make separate changes on two computers without syncing. It's a bit dangerous IMO and iDisk is not very reliable in my own experience. I would use something like ChronoSync to sync between computers directly if possible or via iDisk if not. In the past I would just periodically have Finder zip my whole project directory (I deleted the Build folder first to cut down the size) and just dragged that onto iDisk as a quick backup strategy.

I agree, a local copy of iDisk would be a bit confusing when 2 or more Macs are involved. Thanks for the link to ChronoSync, I'll check it out. If I find a neat solution I'll post it.
