I bought a mini displayport to vga adapter to connect my xbox 360 with vga output to my iMac as the woman at the apple store told me this would work, however I can't get it to work, and reading here it looks like I need a box thing...is this correct?

Fu**** off cause I sold my xbox display in place of this...

so....i'm not sure

Mini only

Yes it's bidirectional, but it only accepts a Minidisplay input signal. So, yes, you need a box. Search around and you will find them.

There is an excellent thread discussing video input here.

If you want to play in 1080p you'll need this. If you can settle for 720p there is a Belkin adapter for $150 also.
