i have a imac g5 and am looking to get a macbook pro

i was thinking of using the imac as an external display for my macbook pro

i had looked on the forum to see if it could be done, but could not find anything.

then i found this page on another forum

http://forums.thescene.com.au/forums/t/51083.aspx

i have not tried it yet as i don't have the macbook pro

Was wondering if anyone could have a go and let me know if it works

thanks

Glen

This is a good idea. However, beware that the only hardware you are using from your Macbook is the hard drive. The processor, RAM, optical drive, etc are all from your iMac. So, if there is some special feature on your Macbook that your iMac does not have, then it will not work from a hardware perspective.

It won't be as convenient as an external monitor, of course.
Would it not be better to sell the G5 and buy an external display?
