Where I live
Hello,

I am relatively new to Mac and I have had an Intel iMac (which I love very much) for abouth 2 month.

But, I am still using my Windows PC (don't stone me please :) ) for some application and music production (or something ressembling that...).

I really want to get rid of the clutter of having external speakers by plugging the anolog audio of my PC to the Mac and use the Mac as speakers. (Again, don't stone me).

But, although I see the bar in the system preference sound panel for the line in, I cannot hear anything from the PC.

Is there a way to tell my iMac to redirect the line-in sound to its internal speakers?

Thanks!

RESURRECTION!

... So was there ever a solution to this? Because attempting this LineIn solution seemed to work ONCE and then never again. I think I hear some of Windows' little chime noises, but listening to anything else - a game, video, itunes, the test sound button does not produce sound to my headphones.

PC onboard audio headphone jack --> iMac LineIn --> Headphones connected to iMac.

I assume the iMac is on, right? I wouldn't expect anything if it were off.

Also, you might have better luck in the iMac forum. This is the Mac Pro forum.

Wow, I had forgotten about this 2006 thread. In the end, I got rid of my PC and moved to iMac only. I still use this iMac for web, email, itunes and I have a recent MBP (2010) for work and more intensive stuff.

Cheers!
