Well, it seemed like the right size, so I thought I'd try using my iPad as a mouse pad and see what happens. I was using a bottom-end wireless laser mouse from logitech for this experiment. It made the computer's on-screen cursor become very erratic and accelerated beyond being at all useful (must be the iPad's glass). Surprisingly, it affected the iPad also- some capacitive signals come through, enough that while I was using it as a mouse pad, it opened the keyboard and typed several letters. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem reliable enough- yet- to use a mouse to control the iPad through capacitive touch. Hopefully this will be rectified on iPhone 4.0 OS ;-). Really though, I didn't expect the mouse to be capacitive, go figure.
