Using iPhone 3G in Tanzania: possible?

Hi

On sunday, I'm going to london. my plan there is to buy an iphone for £99, bring it back here, unlock it, and use it with local phone companies. this has been done successfully with the original iPhone, so assuming that the iPhone 3G can be unlocked, I should have no trouble with doing this right?

I'm just asking because I don't want to waste £100 and find out I can't use it here thanks for any help!

Isn't jailbreaking different than unlocking? I could easily be wrong, but I only think JB'ing has been done so far...

isn't unlocking the process by which I can use the phone with any SIM card? or I guess that's jailbreaking..it should be possible right? I mean, they will find a jailbreak in the end

edit: nvm, just read an old thread on it. apparently "You must first jailbreak the iPhone before you can unlock it." so if it's been jailbroken so far, then the unlocking is left. it is likely that someone will do it in the end right?

There are two types of iphone, locked one and unlocked one, when you go there try to look those which are not locked even though you might find they are sold a little bit expensive

If you're buying an iPhone for £99, I'm presuming you're getting it second hand?
