Resolved Using iPhone 4 Abroad

I have searched everywhere, but i cannot seem to find a definitive answer to my question.

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1 and I am travelling from the UK to Spain for a week on the 3rd of July.

My question is, how can i turn off all of the internet data that my phone uses, such as email etc. whilst still being able to make phone calls and receive SMS & MMS messages?

I am thinking that the best way would probably be to restore my phone to factory settings just before I go and not set anything up apart from be able to make phone calls and receive messages. Would this method work?

Using your phone and or SMS requires cellular data so you're out of luck.

I think I have actually found a way of doing it.

In settings, I went to General - Network then selected Turn off "Cellular Data". This seems to turn off the data, but still allows me to make and receive phone calls as well as send and receive SMS messages.
