Without wanting to get into a big thing about Snow Leopard vs Lion / Mountain Lion, for my own reasons I'm sticking with SL and received one of those ominous emails about upgrading to iCloud the other day.

In general, I use Mobile me email as a spam magnet and my work email comes through my service provider so I'm not that bothered about losing email. The main concern is my contacts which I obviously want to keep synched.

My question is: If I upgrade to iCloud, will my contacts in Snow Leopard remain synched with those on my iPhone and will contacts I've added on my Mac in SL transfer to the phone and vice versa? I'm talking specifically about when I physically plug in the phone to my Mac via a cable.

Thanks for any help on this.

Your contacts will sync fine via iTunes in SL, doesn't need iCloud. iOS 5.0.1 can sync via WiFi too.

Lion syncs contacts with iCloud.

Thanks Bill....So effectively, all I'll lose in terms of contacts synching is the cloud bit I guess, which is a shame but I can live with it.
