using iphone w/ car audio?

does iTrip work w/ the iphone?
looking at the apple store online, iphone doesn't show up as a compatible product but if this is true, how can i listen in my car?

i don't have a cassette player, so I think the connection via radio is my only option.

i put mine in a ipod car adapter dont member the name but its black and has blue lcd area and ipod said device not made for transmitter or whatever

I discovered it does not work with my Alpine iDA-X001 headunit.

I don't have an iPhone yet and am waiting for 3G. When it does, what's a good headunit that definitely works with the iPhone (don't want it only working with my iPod). What about iTrip?

i have heard that if you use an iphone with an fm transmitter that is not made for an iphone you can damage the iphone... i have never tried using my itrip with my iphone, just in case.
