using iphone with basic att plan

Hello I've sign up to this forum for help.

So, I have the basic plan with AT&T (300 mins/ month no unlimited data nor sms).

I do not want to upgrade my plan but i want to own an iphone. Now, if i unlock the phone (jailbreak) can i use it with basic plan just to make and receive calls. And use my school's wifi to surf the web?

You wont be able to buy a new iPhone without signing the contract for a new (upgraded) plan...

You won't enjoy your phone nearly as much without the data plan. Trust me, before the iPhone was released I thought the exact same thing as you.
