I'm trying to load boxee onto my apple tv, 2.2, and am attempting to use an ipod shuffle for the patchstick.

The atvusb-creator.app seems to load onto the shuffle just fine. Then I plug it into my apple tv, and then plug in the apple tv. The apple tv starts up, but the shuffle does not appear to be running as a patchstick to run the ATV bootloader.

Any advice? Is there something I'm missing with the shuffle?

i think you'd need to partition the device into two separate drives first. then install the software, then boot it up.

or, in a bullet list, which helps me for some reason.
  • disk utility to partition drives
  • two hfs+ partitions
  • use appletv usb creator to make drive
  • plug into aTV, plug aTV in.
  • reformat drive so it works as a shuffle again. itunes should restore it for you.

Good suggestion, but alas, it didn't work. Any other thoughts?

i went to micro center and bought a cheap 2gig drive an did it with that. worked well enough.

that's all i got though.

Thanks for all the help. I gave up on the shuffle, and loaded it with my 160GB portable USB drive. Worked fine, but I hated to erase everything on that drive to make it happen.
