Hi,

I broke my 10.5" ipad pro and after huge dilemma bought the 11" ipad pro (instead the new Ipad Air).

Anyway, I had a OTG usb stick for my 10.5" Ipad Pro (this one: https://www.teamgroupinc.com/en/product/mostash-wg02-apple-otg), which I really loved. I could copy from my PC whatever I wanted, it had it's own applications on my Ipad and I could access these files without copying them to the Ipad. Even better I could use it for my Iphone 7s as well and my wife's Ipad Mini so basically I needed to have a series or docs one place and could use it on different devices. Most cases I used it during travel, especially on planes.

The new Ipad Pro does not have lightning port, so I have the problem, I can't use the devices anymore. I found a connector on Amazon (this one: https://www.amazon.com/ARKTEK-USB-C...ning&qid=1553596749&s=gateway&sr=8-4-fkmrnull).

Now I'm wondering, if I use this connector, could this be a solution or not? My idea is, that the OTG USN stick has the needed authorization from apple and they have the IOS app downloadable from the app store, so theoretically they are legitim to offer this functionality. The cable has the OTG in the name and the connector from Amazon makes the statement that it is not OTG, though if it can pass through the data and the rest is handled by my stick I would be very happy.

Does anyone experience with these connectors and with such solution? Is there a USB-C adapter with the same function attachable to the Ipad Pro that provides access via a specific app to the content without copying? Should you have any other solution that works like the above it is also welcome.

Regards,

Toni

I have found nothing. The problem is that the authentication chips/hardware for lightening is just missing from the iPP 2018. The creates problems with legacy devices that don't have an equivalent driver for regular USB on iOS. For my it was my Apogee ONE device. Still waiting for an update and I fear it may not arrive until iOS 13 in the summer/fall. I suspect the same for external storage. Hope someone else has found a better solution.

The only other option is use a wireless drive or wireless bridge like the WD Passport Pro. Those are really slow but pretty stable IMO.
