Just wondering if anyone here actually uses Linux (Ubuntu, Mint etc) for photography. I am kind of not liking some of the current offerings from the other operating systems so I thought I would try Linux for this task.

If you do, what all do you use? Software etc? How are you finding the work flow?

My current camera is an (oldie) Canon 5DmkII which I have magic lantern enabled on but not heavy invested with.

I just tinkered a bit with Darktable and, well I really don't like the results. I mean the raw file looked way better. Maybe I pushed it too much or something and or don't know how to use the software (strong possibility) but I really would not want this set up to be my money maker if that was the case. The image looks a bit too washed out, there is a ton of color noise and grain.

Might be back to Apple and lightroom for me...

If anyone wants to see the image let me know ill post it direct here.
