hello

I am wondering when / how long I should plug in the power cable into my macbook air. I am using my macbook a lot (downloading movies, etc) , let's say starting in the morning until late night, so I thought that the best idea was to have it plugged in all the time in order to "protect" the battery and keep those battery cycles really low. It seems like this was even worse for my battery:

I just had to replace my macbook air's battery because after only 350 battery cycles it shut down when it reached 40% or 50%.

Do you guys have any tips for me so that I don't have to replace every 2,5 years? Or is replacing the battery every 2 or 3 years "normal"?
Thanks a lot for your help!

kind regards
schluckauf..

It's fine to use the machine on the charger. Once a week take it off the charger and use the battery till it's at, say, 2%, then charge again. That should be fine.

Which OS is being used when running the MacBook from morning to night?

Which Air do you have?

How old is the battery? Is it an original Apple battery?

I'm asking because I don't think Windows supports battery or power management the way that macOS will.

All batteries degrade over time even when not being used or charged.
