Just got my macbook...and I am just wondering if I can preserve the longevity of my battery by taking it out or leaving it in...keep in mind I always have my power cord attached.
Any response is appreciated.

The problem with that is, if you accidentally pull out the power cord with no battery in your computer it will automatically shut off and you will lose all your unsaved work.

Li-ion batteries dont suffer from being stored at charge, so I would say leave it in, imo.

If it *does* get any problems within the warranty period apple will replace it for you.

Taking the battery out leaves you with the very real risk of getting RC* caught in the connectors which can have pretty adverse effects.

*RC: random crap.

Or worse, RCH.

If you have to ask....;)

I pretty much always have my PB plugged in with the battery in. After almost 3 years, I have 2.5 hours of battery life.

ya the batteries dont suffer from to much charging, i heard on another thread that it will stop chargin at 100% until its at 96% then charge again and so-on

Is that what that is? I was wondering why my new MBP keeps showing 98% and charging when I know it's been plugged in and charged for a while.

If you're REALLY that concerned about the battery's health, I would recommend letting the Macbook run on batteries at least once every 1-2 weeks, until the battery is down to about 10-15%. Then, plug it in and let it charge back up.

ummm... i think the proper way to recalibrate the battery is by running on the battery until the MB/MBP goes to sleep. then continue to drain the battery by NOT charging it until the status LED doesn't flash anymore.
