Hi all, hoping for some guidance on a networking issue with MAMP and my macs

  • macbookpro is running mamp server
  • what iMac to connect to it.
  • SMB server OK
  • screen sharing ok
  • file sharing ok
  • can ping IP address of macbook from iMac. OK

Mamp server works perfectly on macbook pro - no issues there.

When I connect to the server on the macbook pro from the imac, in my chrome browser i use 192.168.0.12:8888

Works fine and I can see the root directory.

However when I try to navigate to a wordpress development site, it keeps changing the IP address to localhost.

For example instead of:
http://192.168.0.12:8888/mysitename/

My 'remote' iMac changes the URL to:
localhost:8888/mysitename/

I cant force it to keep the IP address in tact - for this wordpress site.

Other sites it does retain it, but not this one> I don't know why or how to fix this. I have tried to hardcode the address in the wordpress DB to the IP address but no change. the iMac keeps changing the IP to localhost.

This dev site works fine from the local macbook pro. Cannot connect over the network to it.

Any help, clues or guidance appreciated.

Thanks

I'd guess maybe .htaccess is rewriting the URL to localhost. Have you double checked that?

Nope, but Ill give it a go. Didn't even think of that, which was a bit silly really.

Thanks Ill advise on the forum.
