As you can see above, an icon appears in my doc (MacOS 11.0.1) to the right when my messenger app is open on my phone. As soon as I exit the app and go back to my home screen, the above icon disappears. It's not THAT big of a deal, but I'm not a fan of it. Does anyone know how to remove it? I couldn't find an option for it in dock setting or preferences in messages on the MBA.

Yes, you need to turn off handoffs in the System Preferences.

It’s a feature. Now that they fixed the iMessage app in MacOS you can more easily send from there. If your a touch typist. It will also pop up for other Apple apps on the same iCloud account, Safari, Podcasts, Notes ...

Is there an advantage to using the Messenger app on your Mac instead of messenger.com on your bookmark bar?

I don’t ever upgrade to the betas. I wait a couple of days after each full release to see what bugs are present.
