Using "Migration Assistant" Question

Hello,

Trying to use the Migration Assistant to transfer Photos from an older W7 pc to new iMac.
Both are on the same network.

Seems to get hung up, apparently on the Windows side.

Says it can't find "Windows Mail," and won't allow me to bypass this, or to go any further.

I'm not too interested in transferring the old eMails (although if practical, would be nice);
all I really want to do is to transfer all my old Photos, and a few Documents.
(I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird for all my eMails on pc)

How do I get passed this "Can't find Windows Mail" message that
keeps coming up each time on the Windows pc ?

Thoughts ?

How are the photos organized?
Are they in a "folder/file" hierarchy?
Or are they in a "managed library" created by a program on the older PC?
If the latter, can you "export" them into a new folder?

Instead of Migration Assistant, my thoughts are:
1. Get them into some kind of "folder/file" hierarchy.
2. Copy that to an external drive or USB flashdrive
3. Bring to Mac and either copy them over or import them into the Mac app of your choice.

I agree with Fishrrman. Copying to a usb drive or stick, depending on file size, seems a whole lot easier than using Migration Assistant.

Thanks for help.

I did try transferring from the pc to the iMac via an extwrnal hd formatted for Windows.

All the photos when opened on the Mac came across as .ecc and couldn't be opened up.

I never heard of .ecc, however I googled it and got these two different answers.

There are others as well. Seems strange. Good luck!
