I am going to drop cable tv.

I would like to use the new mini as a pvr and on line guide/tuner to watch the great off the air HD channels we have.

I have one of the eye tuners.

How good is the front row or pvr type software? Will non techies be able to easily use it and not complain to find and record tv shows off the air?

I really like the latest version of the EyeTV software. It's non technical at all, and fairly Apple like in the look/feel department. I think after playing around with it for 5 minutes, even a very non-technical person would feel OK with it.

Although Front Row is a great way to view your iTunes/iPhotos on your TV, Front Row has no TV/PVR abilities natively. There are some plugins that will allow it to hook into EyeTV (and other PVR software).

I think there is a home theatre forum on here with lots of threads from people doing exactly what you're trying to do. Might find some good reading in there. :)
