I have a Mac Pro 1,1 Mid 2006.

To start using OS X Yosemite I had to buy new video card, so I bought MSI GTX650 TI OC 2GB. According to Nvidia web site my GPU Max TDP is 110 W, unfortunately MSI doesn't reveal whole video card power specification. I understand that generally accepted consensus is that the two 6-pin connectors on motherboard provide up to 225W. I didn't have mac specific PCI Express 6 pin power cable so I used Superdrive molex cables with molex to PCI express 6 pin adabter.

I don't need Superdrive so is it safe and does super drive molex cables provide sufficient power to my video card or I should better buy that mac specific power cable.

OWC and Amazon carry those cables for very little.

Everything you want to know about different cables:

Amazon doesn't ship to Estonia and on OWC it costs 20 $. If I buy from ebay it will take 1 month to arrive.

I am already using this adapter. My question is: can I keep using "Superdrive 4 pin peripheral power cable" or it is better to buy mac specific power cable. I know that Mac Pro motherboard 6-pin connectors provide up to 225W, but does same apply to "Superdrive 4 pin peripheral power cable"
