since I now can't imagine living without it I was wondering how I should go about keeping my paid apps, so I can use it with the iphone I will eventually get, while making sure she doesn't lose her apps. should I sync to her computer, then to mine?

I already synced her data (contacts) via mobile.me, before syncing with my mobile.me account to get my contacts etc onto the phone. I hope I haven't done anything irreparable to her data when doing that.

Did a (very) quick search and didn't see an answer. Thanks.

Did you purchase your apps on your own separate iTunes account?
Apps can be redownloaded for free on the iTunes account that they were purchased with. So it doesn't really matter if they are on your computer or not because you can download them later. But you will lose your saved data in the apps, unless you copy her iPhone backup file and use it to restore your new phone from. But that will also have all her other settings and such in it.

Did you erase the phone and then sync with your computer? Or just switched mobile me accounts?

thank you, very helpful. I did download my paid apps using my account, not hers. And I have never synced to my computer, just swithched mobile.me accounts.
