To cut a long story short:
I got mine yesterday from a friend that visited the US and couldn't be happier about the absolutely fantastic possibilities of this thing, EVEN for a 1.0 release.
The iPad is just the beginning of a long and gratifying revolution - the perfect analogy? IT IS the best couch/kitchen/bedside computer ever. No more going upstairs to fire up your Mac just to check something on the Internet...no more waking up your laptop and opening its lid simply to see if a certain news has arrived.
The only problems for me? Being unable (so far) to have iBooks and purchase apps directly from the iPad here in Europe; another thing that I am still figuring is how to import files into your iPad for viewing or light editing...everything else is just awesome, with an unbelievably long battery life!
Screen - awesome quality, no eyestrain;
Virtual keyboard - much easier to use than expected;
Multitouch - extremely accurate and intuitive, and what a great implementation over all apps;
Apps - a lot available, with a lot more coming - even the free ones exude quality;
Wi-Fi - no issues to report, fast and straightforward;
Videos - what a great couch cinema!
Sound - stronger than expected for such a small device;
Form factor - may be a tiny bit heavy if you're using it for hours in one hand; two hands or on your lap are absolutely fine;
Battery life - one hour of use and no change from 100% - this thing is amazing!
In a nutshell, this thing is gonna cover more than 75% of my portable needs; now my good ol' iBook G3 may rest in tranquility
Thank you, SJ, for another wonderful home run!
