I do freelance work and my current client has me using Remote Desktop to remote in to one of the PCs in his office. The problem is, I cannot print to my local printer from Remote Desktop. I have to email myself the document and open it on my Mac to print. I know there has to be a way to get the remote PC to recognize my local printer. I have asked his IT guy several times but he is very unresponsive and this is really becoming an issue.

My local printer is just a cheap Canon wireless printer. It's connected to my wifi and all my devices print to it with no problem. When I try to print from Remote Desktop, it just gives me the option to print to the printers in his office. I try add new printer and it doesn't find my printer. I am pulling my hair out because this is becoming a time consuming issue! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Are you using the Microsoft Remote Desktop app on your Mac? If so, open it up and click the edit "pencil" icon in the upper right corner of the PC you are trying to access (assuming you have saved it). From there, you will see tabs for General, Display, Devices & Audio, and Folders. Click the Devices & Audio tab. Check the box for Redirect Printers and then click Save. You should find your local printer in the list of available printers the next time you try to print. It may take a few seconds longer than usual to initiate a print job, but it should work fine. I use my local printer daily this way.
