I never liked how having seperate wallpapers looked before, but in iOS 11, the transition works much better. If you haven’t tried using separate wallpapers, check it out.

In iOS 11, when you have one wallpaper the transition between home screen to NC is bizzare because the wallpaper fads back into itself.

I used to use different wallpapers on the unlock and home screen before I first bought an iPhone with Touch ID since the old swipe to unlock blurred the screen when you entered your passcode. I found the lack of transition when using Touch ID too jarring so I've stuck with using the same wallpaper on both ever since. Will be interesting to see how it looks with the new transition you mention. I'll probably be brave enough to try iOS 11 around beta 3...

Sorry I don’t have a video. The weird thing about iOS 11 is that when you swipe down to get to Notification Center, a new pane overlaps the home screen but it has the same background as the home screen it’s kind of trippy.

With two seperate wallpapers, it’s easier to conceptialize that Notification Center/lock screen is actually a panel overtop of the home screen.

I never liked how two images worked before because of how the screen would go black when transitioning between the two images.

Sound good. That always bothered me as well. And I never understood why they did it. When unlocking to an app instead of the home screen it fades perfectly. But for some reason the screen turns black when you unlock to the home screen.
