I am planning on purchasing the $99 program from Apple to enable me to test my app on the iPhone and distribute it. Does emabling the iPhone for debug/testing in any way make my phone not usable as a normal iPhone?

No. You will get a certificate which you will use to sign the app and a provisioning profile which you install on your device using the organizer in xcode or iTunes. That's about it really. You tell xcode to test on the device and it does everything. Nothing else changes or is affected. My iPhone is also jailbroken and everything is still running fine.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I thought that would be the case but I just wanted to be sure before I spend the $99
