I've been playing a few old gameboy games on my mac using emulators and i was getting tired of using the keyboard as controls. I was just wondering if there was any way i could use the apple remote input as the controls? I would want to have the remote held horizontally in my hands so that the controls would be:

Volume up = Left
Volume down = right
Skip forward = up
Skip backward = down
Play/pause = A button
Menu = B button

I do not know how to write script or even know where I would start. But i was thinking it would be a pretty simple script to write to do this. If anyone thinks they can find a way to do this please let me know

Mira fits the bill...

I think Mira would fit the bill. It's an extra preference pane which goes in system preferences and allows you to customise what the remote control does on a per application basis. It does cost to get the full version, but I believe there is a trial version...they were giving it away at one point last year so look out for deals like that!
