Using US power supply in uk

Hi, i just bought a Mac Mini (18/01/2010) from the US and planning on using it in the UK. The power supply states 100-120v 110w and comes with us plug.

Can i use this in the uk with 240v and a plug adaptor or do i need another power supply..

Spoke to Apple store and dont think they understand the issue, thet just quote a part number MA407B/A and say thats the only one that comes with it and it will be ok. However there is also another part number MA407LL/A which is for the Mac Mini.



So can anybody advise what i need to do?

If the power supply doesn't state that it'll go up to 230/240V (which is surprising) you'll need a voltage changer.

Hi thanks for your rapid response!!!

I thought that but the guy i spoke to at Apple store (on the phone) said it will be ok.

Got an appointment at the genious bar this afternoon, will take the mac mini in with the power supply..

If it is the wrong part, will they change it?

There's a post on exactly this subject on the 123Macmini forums.

Bottom line: apparently ALL the mini power bricks are the same (and actually handle 100-240V) but the US ones are marked "100-120 V" for legislation/certification reasons. That post contains images of BOTH types of markings, apparently on the SAME spec'd device.

There too, Apple advised the user that US bricks would be OK in 240V countries. I'm a little suspicious myself, but I provide this link as helpful info.

^^ That makes sense to me - I thought all Apple products worked on both voltages - I just thought the Mini might be an exception as its labelled differently.

Thanks mooblie for your reply - looks like i will be ok. Dont think i'll spend any money on another "same" power supply with a different lable on it!

Will still go to my genious meeting anyway as im new to Mac and have another query for them!!!

(Connecting dual 22" wfp228 dell screens)!

I know its not the same machine, but the principle is the same. I bought a 13" uMBP from the US and I live in the UK and thats OK.

I have just looked at my power brick for my Mac mini (1.83GHz Core 2 Duo/Intel Embedded Graphics) and it says both 110/220v on it. The Mac mini was bought in the UK.
