Hey, recently purchased this particular lightning to aux cable from Amazon. Looking to utilize on PS5 for game audio only, but I cannot get a sound from the controller to the AirPods Max. I attempted using the wire on my MacBook Pro as well with no luck wired.

Here is the link for the cord I bought

Any recommendations?

Apple conveniently made it so only their overpriced sh*t cable would work. Sorry.

The cable is the wrong direction. It takes audio from the Lightning and outputs it to the 3.5mm. So it's going Digital to Analog Audio (DAC)

But you need audio coming from the 3.5 and output it to the Lightning connector, going Analog to Digital (ADC)

The cable you needs is 'bi-directional'. It looks like Apple are currently the only option for this although no doubt more will be on the market soon.

As I stated in a previous post those Lightning cables are the opposite of what you need. They are a DAC and the Max's needs an ADC. Lightning ADC is something that is only used on the Max's.

Here is a copy of my post:

It is important to know what is required of the cable and why others don't work. The Max's require a cable with an Analog to Digital Converter (ADC). Also it must convert the analog signal to AAC for the AirPods.

Cables that come with the iPhone (or 3ed party) are just the opposite and have a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC).

This built in electronics are actually a large part of the high price. Also any use use of a cable thinking they are bypassing the DAC to pass a hi res signal to the Max's is false. The only technical advantage is lower latency and less chance of dropouts than using BT.
