v1 iPhone, jailbroken and unlocked, working on T-Mobile.

iPhone will not start up unless connected to charger (either ac, connected to computer or car charger.)

Works fine then and when disconnected continues to work. If I leave brightness very low and just leave it on, it works ok as well. Once it goes to sleep it generally will not start up unless connected to charger. Battery only lasts a few hours.

Is this problem due to the battery getting old and weak or is there another problem? Anyone?

Thanks.

I've noticed that when my 3G is completely drained, it will not start up, by start up I mean it will not even show the "Out of Battery" Sign, so I guess thats normal.

However if you leave it alone for 30 minutes to an hour or so it will regain a small amount of charge. Then the "out of battery sign" appears.

Anyhow, yes when your battery is completely drained you need to connect it to a power source.

Most likely your battery is becoming weak.

Thanks for your reply. I hope that is what the problem is.

I am going to get the battery replaced.
