Hi all,
I have been reading on here for a while, but just registered. I am a long time PC user about to buy my first Mac.

I will be getting MacBook and I don't want the black "VaderBook" because I don't want it chanting "What is thy bidding, my master?" Everytime Steve Jobs is mentioned around it.

I all seriousness though, I personally don't care for the all black version, but I am not 100% thrilled about the white version either. I know that there are companies that will custom color Macs. Will they color just parts? I would like to have sort of a "StormTrooper Edition" of a MacBook. I would like the keys to be black, the bezel around the screen on the inside to be black, and the Apple logo on the lid to be outlined in black. Everything else to be white. I think it would be cool if Apple themselves would do this, but I am not holding my breath. Do you think these custom colorization companies would do something like this?

The thing I love about the black ipods and macbooks is everyone buys them in black and then people like me buy the white ones, and people see you with a white video ipod and say 'wow i havn't seen a white one'!

Interesting how buying it in white has actually become a more unusual but the guys who buy black think that is different, a bit like the punk movement really...

Colorware is the major player in customized colored Macs, as far as I know. Call or e-mail them and ask them. :)

Hmm, funny you should mention them - May 26th for the new MacBook in gleaming green!

Linkety - but check out the price - you thought black was expensive!

You guys do know that Colorware does custom colors, right? I mean, just because there's a green one in the photo doesn't mean that green's the only color you can get. :D

Yeah sure, I think they do 20 or so colours. Not that I'm bothered - I still have a Dull Inspiron 3800 in Forest Green! Years ahead of colorware  :D

Yeah, it's a little hard to find their list of standard colors, but they have I think 23 or 26 or something like that. I can't believe hot pink isn't one of them, though!

They used to have an easily accessible page with a list of colors available, but it really isn't easy to find at all now.

Perhaps they should consider a better website design, since green doesn't seem to be a big hit. ;)

http://www.colorwarepc.com/products/select_mbp.aspx?configid=493

Its not hot pink or anything and no dell if that is what you want but if you go to configure that is where you can find the thousands of colors. well only 20 or so but hell I was thinking of going throug them but I can't decide between 5 colors and know I never will be able to so... Titanium here i come...

My question is can you ever go back to Titanium or are you stuck with Red MBP?

I imagine you'r stuck. I couldn't find any info about the colouring process on their site. It's possible i suppose that they source a load of parts, colour them and then replace the ones on your own computer - but I doubt that, it would just add cost. So how they manage to get a solid, even colour on the metal without affecting its ability to fit back together again, I don't know...

Here is an image of their standard colors -- as far as I know, the standard colors are the same on all computers. EDIT: Fixed it -- click for a larger view. You can get to this on their website by going to the "services" section and then choosing a device you want to "send in" to get painted. :)

I was at CompUSA today looking at the MB. I was talking about coloring the 17" MBP and the CompUSA guy said "oh yeah i heard about that. My friend who works at a body shop, paint his MacMini a Candy Blue" He went on to explain that it was super shiney and looked just like a car would.

So maybe not candy blue, but could you imagine having like a Super Black with a few clear coats on your MBP or a cherry red or a Ferrari Yellow. or something really crazy? I know that sounds dumb and some are throwing up in their mouthes when they hear about me coloring a Titanium, but I love to stand out so...
