Vaja Leather Suit and TSA... Problems?

I have not been flying since I put my leather suit on my MBA. Does anyone that has one travel a lot with it? Do you know if airport security is going to make me take it off the laptop? If so, I might just take it off at home and travel without it.

I would not be surprised if they did, but probably not every time.

If one of them notices it, they will probably make you remove it just because it is a novelty.

Is it difficult to put on and remove? Are there parts on it that you think will wear out if removed too many times?

Its not something you would want to remove in the airport line. I would imagen the clips tha hold it on could get streched out over time. Its really not designed to come off every day.

I will try it once and see what happens.

In this case it could be used to hide a blade or some such weapon that couldn't be hidden by a clear case. So just go ahead and remove it, but you can put it on after you pass through security.

Uh, yeah, because that stuff would totally not show up in the x-ray machine.

To the OP: I've been told that "sleeves" don't have to be taken off. I've successfully traveled with my MBP in a black insleeve case without having to take the computer out. That being said, TSA employees wield an extraordinary amount of power, and they tend not to uniformly adhere to their own rules.

I've traveled with my MBA and in the beginning (Feb-Mar '08) TSA had no idea how to respond and actually were issuing "borderline harassment packages" on my roundtrip (take it out, turn it on, rub the entire MBA with a cloth that leaves red residue all over my MBA). I'm taking a plane trip in two weeks, so I'll have additional feedback for this thread. It's my understanding that they don't require the laptops/notebooks to be removed from the sleeves or computer bags. I traveled with my MBP and they instructed me to leave it in the case.

Just flew with my MBA 1.8 SSD twice in the past week and there were no issues at all. I left it in my sleeve, although they were making people take the laptops out of bags that had other things in (i.e. notebooks or other reading materials.)

Also, if you're flying internationally and have to go through border patrol in the US: just leave it at home. These days they can arbitrarily confiscate laptops for an indefinite period of time. You may never see it again.
