Value of a 3,1 Mac Pro?

First, I'm sorry if this is out of place here ... if so just let me know and I'll delete it!

I'm trying to figure out how much my 3,1 is worth if I sold it. eBay auctions are all over the map, and not much help at the moment. I'd appreciate any input.

More or less the 2008 Mac Pro goes for around $890 to $1000 on the average. There's a lot of this model in the market though this is still a good machine. I'm still using one and enjoying it.
 
I sold my 2008 2.8ghz 8-core with 32 GB of RAM and a 5770 for $1500 cash 12 months on Craigslist. I think I loaded it up with 4x1 TB drives just to get rid of the drives.
 
Good to know, thanks guys. I priced it at $950, hopefully it'll get some interest. I'm kinda sad to sell it. I've never had a piece of electronics be so utterly reliable.
 
When I was selling my Mac Pro 3,1 on Craig's List, I started off with it loaded with 32GB RAM, OEM Apple Radeon 5770, and a 1TB hard drive. I was asking for $800 but kept getting low balled. Finally, I agreed to sell for $500 but with 2GB RAM, ATI 2600XT, and a 320GB hard drive. Then, I sold the 32GB RAM and Radeon 5770 on Ebay and I ended up getting more.

In retrospect, the buyer was foolish. There was no way he can get 32GB RAM and a Radeon 5770 for $300. Penny wise, dollar stupid.

Foolish buyer, smart seller. :) That's good thinking. I have the stock 2600XT, I could always put that back in, and sell the 5870 on eBay or something. Seems like they're still going for 2-300.
 
The main reason why I did not want to sell the Mac Pro on Ebay was because of how big and heavy the Mac Pro is. I can't imagine what shipping costs would have amounted to. Plus, I've seen how delivery people handle packages and would be very afraid of it getting damaged.
 
It depends on ram, hdd's and video card. In a basic form they are $500 or a bit less around here. Good card, 8 plus gb ram and 1 tb hdd - you will get a bit more. Expensive video card will get you even more. 3,1 's will be on market soon in numbers as Education systems (higher ed.) upgrade their computer labs now a new Pro and iMac are on the market. Shipping process is not that bad - several of the mailbox stores offer a mail kit package and total is $50 ish for ship to CONUS.
 
Wow. $50?? That's a great price. I thought shipping costs would amount to over $100. Can you tell me which mailbox store has this kind of pricing? It would be extremely useful for the day I decided to sell my 5,1. Thanks.
