Have you every reached for a product you frequently buy only to pause and ask yourself “Has the price gone up?” or “Did the size change?” since the last time you bought it? If so, then ValueTracker is for you.

ValueTracker is a price book app that is designed to let you quickly check and update the cost and size of a product while you shop. And as you build your list of products to track, you’re also creating an easy “go to” shopping list.

Use it to save money by identifying sales trends and seasonal shifts in pricing. Use it to determine if a product is still a good value based on price and size changes. Use it so you never stand in the aisle wondering what you paid last week.

There are plenty of shopping apps available on the App Store but what sets this one apart is that it was developed specifically for people who use an iPod touch instead of an iPhone. The app will run on both devices but no wifi access or cell service is needed. This is perfect for iPod users who can’t always find a wifi hotspot and for iPhone users who are concerned about data limits.

Help me out here. Over 700 people have looked at this thread but not one comment.

Is the description boring or the purpose of the app unclear? Is the icon ugly? Perhaps you don't see a need for this type of app? Maybe the only person you think might possibly be interested would be your Mom and she's allergic to iDevices?

What kind of sales pitch would convince you that you needed this app?

Hi Projekt. I am an independent iOS developer and this is my first app in the App Store. :D

- UPDATE ANNOUNCEMENT -

Do you want to save hundreds on groceries? ValueTracker can help you do just that.

ValueTracker, the grocery price book app, has been updated to be compatible with iOS 6 and now includes a Unit Pricing Comparison Calculator. The calculator makes it easy to save more money by doing a side-by-side comparison of the unit price of up to four products.

Not sure what a price book is or how it can help you save money? I’ve posted an article on my website that explains how it works using real-life examples.

“Why Use A Price Book?”: http://www.thegrayworks.com/tgw/theGrayLog.html

Don’t wait to save, start now and see how fast you can save enough money to cover the entire cost of the new iPod touch or several months of the iPhone’s service contract.

UPDATE: ValueTracker v1.2 is now available.

If you’re like me and don’t like doing the weekly grocery shopping, use this price book app to turn this chore into a money-saving strategy “game” that will almost make the job fun.

Your grocery budget is an easy place to find ways to save money. It’s truly a case of why pay more than you have to.

What’s new in v1.2:
- The Unit Pricing Comparison Calculator has an optional coupon field in portrait mode.

- Priority Highlight calls attention to the key products you are tracking so they stand out on the Product List.

- Your “buy” price can be added to the top of a product’s Tracking List. It will then appear on the Product List as well.

- The Estimated Savings Tool will give you an idea of how much you can save on a product over the course of a year.

A grocery shopping list can help you stick to a budget but a price book can help reduce that budget. Put your list to work for you as a grocery price book - a powerful, time-tested tool that will enable you to save.

ValueTracker v1.7 adds the automatic calculation of unit prices and the ability to email shopping lists to others.
