I just got a new MacBook Pro (15 in, $2500 model). I partitioned off a portion for Vista with the intent of playing Valve games on it (Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead mianly). This worked... alright, but not great. The audio over the whole system in Vista would become very choppy for a few seconds every 4-5 minutes, Left 4 Dead would play but would freeze up every hour and a half to two hours for 10 seconds or so before resuming play. TF2 would crash entirely after 2-3 minutes, causing a black screen and looping audio that I had to manually boot out of.
Since I was already sick of Vista, I thought I'd try solving these problems by switching back to XP. I did that and things got worse. Left 4 Dead now crashes with the same regularity as TF2 (2-3 minutes of gameplay max). I updated my video card drivers, updated the operating system, and updated Direct X, all to no avail. In fact the problem spread to Bioshock which previously had been running just fine. It seems like Valve just has something against me.
Any ideas? Help? If I want to game should I just abandon mac entirely? I Googled all over the place and couldn't find anyone else with similar problems. But yeah, I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance.
