Device/OS info: MacBook Pro w/Big Sur, iPhone 11 w/latest iOS, HomePod Mini.

I've started trialing Apple Music to see if just being completely in the Apple ecosystem will make my life easier.

So far, not so much. I'm experiencing a variety of confusing scenarios, mainly about playlists being synced across devices including the web.

I'm trying to figure out the different states of music and playlists.

For example I have some playlists that look like this:

In most cases, these playlists are available across all devices: iPhone, Mac, Apple Music app on my Samsung TV, through the Apple Music website (https://music.apple.com/) but I have one that Siri inexplicably says it cannot find when I asked it to play on my HomePod Mini.

In other cases I have a play list that looks like this:

And Siri will play it on my HomePod Mini.

The difference above seems to be the "Publish on profile and search" piece. Not sure what that means but I'm thinking it might be some indication that this song is in the Apple Music "cloud".

Then I have some playlists like this:

This is not "Downloaded" and the little download icon is not clickable. No explanation.

Finally I have some songs that have a status of "Waiting":

With no indication on what it's waiting for or how to retry or something. Curiously I cannot create a smart playlist with Cloud Status = Waiting (there are several other values I can use).

I'm having a hard time getting a clear "mental model" of how Apple Music is supposed to work.

Anyone else run into any of these issues?
