I just started ripping my Blu rays and converting them so they can be added to iTunes. I currently use MakeMKV to rip them, and then iVI to 'pass-through' the mkv to convert it to m4v so it can then be added to iTunes.
I like using this 'pass-through' setting specifically because the video quality is seemingly identical to the mkv, and it takes far less time to convert because it isn't re-encoding the entire video (file size and bit rate are of no concern to me, just video quality).
The problem is, iVI will only 'pass-though' mkv files encoded in h.264, and I've come across several encoded in VC-1 which disables the 'pass-through' setting. I would just use handbrake to convert these, but I don't want to lose a lot of quality or take 10hr per video. So is there a good way to quickly convert a VC-1 mkv to h.264 so I can then 'pass-through' in iVI to convert it to m4v, or does anyone know of another program similar to iVI that would 'pass-through' the mkv converting it to m4v regardless of what it was encoded with? Thanks for any advice/suggestions.
