Hey gang,

I am running a cMac Pro 5,1 with a MacVidCards AMD RX580 (EFI flashed for boot screen) and OCLP 0.6.3 as of 4/11/2023

In Monterey 12.6.5, Hackintool v3.9.3 reports VDA Decoder is "Fully Supported" but in Ventura 13.2.1 it shows as "Decoder Failed".

Interestingly, both OS's show "???" for the GPU name under [Patch] Menu for Current Framebuffer.

Anyone have any idea how to fix and enable VDA decoder support in Ventura?

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: ALL SOLVED! VENTURA IS PERFECT AGAIN!

OK, this was easy, I just upgraded Ventura from 13.2.1 to 13.3.1 and ensured to install latest OCLP 0.6.3.

Post upgrade, and after a restart, I got an OCLP notice that patches needed to be applied.

Once OCLP applied the "AMD Legacy Polaris" patch and rebooted all was well again and VDA Decoder is now "Fully Supported! Crisis averted :) Thanks OCLP!

The Polaris drivers in Ventura require AVX2.0 now.
Additionally on Polaris, AMD's Encoder/Decoder are broken caused by AMDRadeonVADriver.bundle and AMDRadeonVADriver2.bundle extraction on Ventura.

You are looking at outdated information. VA is fully functional after advancements in the extraction process.

You can even see it in action in this video:
