Verdict on the Mighty Mouse?

Is it worth the money? Thinking about buying one because I find using the trackpad on progs like Logic and Ableton LIVE too tedious. Any opinions, experiences or alternative suggestions very much welcome.

I like the Mighty Mouse that came with me iMac, but I wouldn't buy one by itself. I just got a regular(cheap) scroll wheel optical mouse for it my MacBook.

Most folks will agree with me - if you're used to using the apple pro mouse, you'll like the mighty mouse. If you're used to anything better (and there are a BUNCH of better options) you probably will get irritated by how the mighty mouse works (or interferes with your work for that matter).

Crap. Save you're money. Logitech makes a way more comfortable mouse. They also have more function on them even if you don't like 6 buttons.

One thing you may want to try right now.

Make a right click with you current mouse. Did you do it with your middle finger while your index finger was still resting on the left button? If it was, you may not like the Mighty Mouse. The button sensors work by the natural signals in your fingers, so it can only detect one at a time. To right click, you'll have to take one finger off, then do the right click.

well, if you want to enjoy mighty mouse feature for mac os x tiger like expose, dashboard with one click. it's worthy to get. I actually love it. I have both wired and wireless. now I am using wireless. it's the matter of convenience to me. you can also put one battery instead of two. then, it's much lighter. almost wired mighty mouse.

Not too worried about the left click thing, I'm sorta used to using control/apple clicks now. Just want a decent bluetooth mouse that dosnt look like something out of startrek.

I prefer the Pro Mouse form, and never got into big gooney mice with 600 buttons. I like my new BT Mighty Mouse, although I don't use the right click option, I really only use it as a single button mouse with a scroll wheel. So if you prefer the Apple style mouse, I think you'll like it.

Well, honestly its the best Apple mouse I've ever used...

that being said, I don't really like it that much, you need to lift your fingers to right-click, the scrollwheel gets dirty and stops scrolling, it doesn't track as well, I don't like the shape and dissasembly is a *****, plus the squeeze buttons are pointless and software is not too good.

Now I love my MX518 (Logitech) on the other hand, excellent tracking, built in hardware support for DPI change (no drivers and works on every platform!), very smooth and precise scrolling wheel, really useful side buttons (also work without drivers) and the best part of it all, its very comfortable, its like the mouse is made of gel and shapes to your hand, the materials use have a very nice feeling and grip, best mouse I have EVER used, period, many people bash it for the shape, size and paintjob and instantly like the Mighty Mouse better, however once they got the chance to actually use the mice... MX518 was the king . Additionally for the people who will want to install it, SetPoint is downright the best input software I've ever used, it lets you change the DPI to whatever you want and have 5 modes to toggle between with the mouse, you can have any button do anything and its a very unobstrusive piece of software.

I love Logitech mice.

i personally like the mighty mouse. i don't have the wireless yet, but i'm thinking about getting it. we'll see. but i have 2 wired ones and i love them

I got the mighty mouse standard and the bluetooth mighty mouse. I also have a logitech MX510 and MX518. I am using the MX510 right now and the apple mouses are in the closet. Not as smooth as the logitech, or confortable.

I'm using the Logitech MX900 BT mouse here. It's great and fits nicely in your hand.

Appalling. I got terrible hand cramps using mine. It frequently thought that I was right-clicking when I was really left-clicking. The squeezable buttons require a huge amount of pressure to activate and the ball clogs up.

In short, buy a Microsoft or Logitech mouse instead.

I love my mighty mouse, you miht not have set the settings right about the right clicking. if you install the stuff on the CD it sets both buttons as left click. i have had mine for more than a month, and i have had to clean the scrool ball only once, and it was very easy

Well from research, it seems that they are quite poorly designed. For the asking price I think I'll give it a miss. It's just a shame because they'd look so nice next to my shiney new MacBook.

The main problems lies in the buttonless design (damn Apple and their pride), its impossible to right click unless you take off your fingers off the left portion of the mouse, its very ackward to use, and making it act like a single button mouse isn't any better either... and the shape is uncomfortable, maybe I'm spoiled by Logitech but if there is one thing I've always hated about Apple is their input devices, Mighty Mouse is a big welcome jump but a few stuff needs to be worked out for the mouse to be competitive at the price, I only got it because I needed something to replace my Apple Pro Mouse (a beautiful mouse with crap performance and features) and well, Logitech would look odd on the mac

Apple needs to start focusing on substance over style and do it with ALL their products, perhaps excluding the Mac Pro, which as a prebuilt computer, for the price its has little competition.

Well, I did actually manage to configure the buttons and configure #1 as left-click and #2 as right-click, thank you.

The problem was/is crappy design. Nothing more.

I have 2. One no longer scrolls, the other no longer clicks without it feeling like you have to break it to one side to get it to click down.

Both of them squeak beyond belief too, which is really annoying.
