Since Apple only allows download of there Operating Systems is there a method to verify the download of the Operating system has been completely downloaded successfully? As an example can a MD5 or CRC check be done on the downloaded file?

Can a DVD be made for installation purpose? I know it installs the OS software on the Hard drive partition. But If I want to recover the Disk space.
