Below is what I put up on verizon site. I am not sure if there are any members here using verizon FIOS internet which has taken a service degradation and no way to get it repaired and no place to complaint... What do you do?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With all this going on, where are verizon's responsiblity for their existing customers?
My internet has taken a considerable amount of hit and I am not getting no where near what I am paying for (which was 25/25 and I am only getting 4 mb down).
After wasting BUNCH of time and come here and now it's getting me to download a program that will reside on my mac..

This HAS to be one of the MOST frustrating experience.
AS a consumer, what are our rights? (Other than just continue to get pummpled by these big giants)

Is this consider breech of contract??
I am suprised that people are not FREAKING out over this Verizon's lack of support and sense of responsiblity.

Am I the only one taking this approach? CLearly, this is NOT the best forum to splash these topic so I am going to copy and paste this exact post to my other forums and social network and blogging page.. This is freakinig unreal.

I'm on Verizon Internet in Mass. I just did a Speedtest.net test and have not seen a downgrade in speed -
download - 20.44mps upload - 17.78.

With some variability, that's about what I usually get. I have 35/35, but I use a wireless router. I was told to get max performance I need to use ethernet connection. I don't want wires all over the place, and the speed I get is fine.

I'm sure you are aware there is a strike of wire technicians going on. Did your downgrade of service occur before the strike? If after the strike began, it is possible that problems occurred (or sabotage) and have not been fixed..

As far as service and tech support, Verizon has a well deserved reputation for incredibly s****y tech support.

I assume you have called them, not just posted on their web forum. If not, I suggest you call.

You mentioned something about having to download a program. What do they want you to download?

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

Yes, I used to get about 25/25 but now I am getting 3/19 so definitely something has gone wrong.

I have been calling but all they say is "due to on going strike.. ".. So due to on going strike, they are going to just forget about their customer who consent to pay for fix amount of dollars every month to get service + support which I am no longer getting?

Does this mean I am able to break out of the contract? I can no longer take their crap.

They have now some program you download and it assist you troubleshooting and if decided, it will also give you option to open trouble ticket(which I could not get it to work on the mac).

I mean seriously.. Verizon.. first tv app promise which never came and now this???

Do you understand what a strike is? It's less that they've "forgotten" about you and more that everyone who answers the phone is... well, on strike.

I was only talking about from consumer's perspective. Should we CARE whether Verizon is in dispute w/ their own workers? As a consumer, we are paying OUR MONEY to get same service that we signed our contract for. Can we FORGET the contract and just opt out? NO, Verizon will not let us without penalty. So why should we PAY our full price when verizon is not holding up to their bargain?

WOULD you just accept your service completely being down just because verizon do not want to get their internal act together?

Everytime big corporate company is having an internal problem, would you like your life to be interrupted as well?

Again, it does not matter if you like it or not. The workers are on strike, deal with it. Complaining about it will not help the workers get off of strike, will it? Your entire argument is pointless.

It doesn't matter whether you CARE or not - they are on strike. When there is a strike, customers are effected. See, that's sort of the idea of a strike - put pressure on the company to accept the strikers position. So, if you get pissed off enough, then you put pressure on the company.

When they are at full speed, their tech support and service sucks eggs.

If you're not too worried about your credit rating - then walk away. Otherwise, you, me, and all the other Verizon users will just have to deal with the problems until the strike is over.:( Until then, you are stuck with the situation.

Edit: Slow again.

Obviously, the concept of a strike is lost on you. It's supposed to indirectly affect the customers; if you are getting crappy service, or no service, then you are likely to switch providers - Verizon loses a customer. The longer the strike goes on, the more customers they could potentially lose. Thus, it is in Verizon's best interest to reconcile with its workers.

I'm paying for 15/5, and I'm getting 20/5...

Strike over.

Now you can call them and complain your heart out. You should only have to wait on hold for 45 minutes - instead of 1 1/2 hours like now.

You might consider controlling you indignation a little - you will get a more positive response that way.

Clearly this is the wrong place to complain about my service being interrupted.
I care if my service which I pay for is down. I don't care if there's a strike against the government. PERIOD.

You are somewhat write. Verizon had a few choices it could turn to during the strike. One is go to outside help and eat the extra cost or the other choice is is to let customers get pissed and leave.

From what it sound like Verizon might of not even been able to get enough outside help or it just was not possible to off load the work elsewhere. Could of been the lines were damaged or over loaded and no body that would switch it and free it up.

From what it sounds like Verizon let the people in the NE suffer instead of letting everyone in the nation who uses their services suffer. That meant not rerouting your calls as much to back up the system elsewhere.

Sometimes things happen that have nothing to do with you, but do effect you.

If you are angry that Verizon had a strike - dump the Fios service. Hit Verizon where it matters - in the bottom line.

No matter what you think of the strike (right or wrong), they didn't do it just to piss you off. ;)

Old thread, but I'm reviving it.

I've noticed slow speeds recently, like 3-4mb downloads according to speedtest, when I had signed up for a 15mb download plan about a year and a half ago.

I go on the FIOS site, and see that, the 15mb plan now costs more than what I am paying, and that they list what I'm paying now as the 5mb plan....

So they changed their speed/price options, and changed my contract without ever reaching out to me.

They will get a yelling at on the phone shortly, but wanted to see if anyone else was burned by FIOS like this.

Wow, those are great speeds. How much are you paying? I have 20 up / 20 down service from a local ISP in my town for $49 month.

Retraction. After several router resets, I am getting a good 15mbps connections on all my devices (iphone, ipad, mbp, 2008 imac) except for my newest model 27 iMac. That is stuck at around 3-5mbps....

My tenant pays for it. (part of his rent) It's $197.50 for 50Mbps down, 25Mbps up internet, 2 DVR's, 1 HD receiver and a phone line. We get some premium channels. It's too expensive if you ask me

They recently upgraded our service to 50Mbps down. It used to be 25Mbps. We're only getting around 30. Still pretty fast..

You've incorporated that into your rental agreement. That's pretty slick. :)

I charge him less rent. So you can say I'm indirectly paying part of it. It works out for both of us. He's been a long term tenant (13 years) who I trust 100%. He works from home so there's always someone here watching the place when I'm gone.

BTW, according to him, we still have the old 25/25 service (at least that's what his bill says). Can't understand why we're getting higher speeds than that. Not that I'm complaining :)
