I know a lot of people that canceled their contract early with Verizon just to get the iPhone (which to me is kinda crazy paying that early term fee). My buddy was at a Verizon store tonight and he wanted to get a Treo 700wx, anyway the sales people were saying that he might be able to get this cell at a discount and even get his new every 2 early as well. He told me they could sell him the Treo for $200!? He said he was told they would be willing to give him his new every 2 early because of lost customers to the iPhone! So he thinks he's going to get the Treo tomorrow but... did that many people cancel Verizon!!!

I canceled my wife's plan and my plan both with termination fee's to get the iPhone. I was with VZW.
I cancelled with Verizon. I was already over my contract (almost 8 months...).
Over the past few months though, since Verizon has known about the iPhone coming out... I've gotten SO MUCH JUNK TXT from them... and emails... etc... about renewing my contract, about upgrading my phone, etc. I think they were trying to get as many people as possible to get onto another contract in case they lost them to the iPhone.

For the record, customers with Verizon have always been offered the "new every 2" deal one to two months early.
I hate VZW...
new every two is outta date. most of VZW's phones are outta date. new phones are coming out every month or two but vzw people wait 2-yrs+ to get them

I had switched my phone to a blackerry on verizon a few months ago after a purchase on ebay and they extended my contract without telling me or signing anything. I just wanted my line changed. Hence I just straight out cancelled and picked up the iPhone. So far it has been a great decision.
i just went to the verizon store with my bud (who has no intentions of getting the "overly exagerated" iPhone! bah!) and he got his Treo for only $180 WITH A TON OF GOODIES just for saying, "Well my buddy here has been ranting and raving about his iPhone so I am torn between the two. Hmmmm, I think i want the iPhone (A LIE)" and the sales people went into a frenzy and offered his new every 2 of $100, $100 off the Treo, $100 off the Treo price and then $20 off for being a dedicated customer!? catch? a new 2yr contract at a higher priced plan (he needed the more expensive plan anyway but)
i asked the manager there if the iPhone is a threat and he just kinda said, "Well, i've never seen so many people pay a term fee to get out of their contract to go over to ATT" he wouldn't say yes or no.

Oh in fine print it says "Subject to 2 or 3 years agreement on select calling plans" The 100 Bonus Minutes require a new 3 year contract.
