I'm sure this discussion has come up before, but does anyone know if Verizon is really planning on picking up Apple's contract? I've heard that the contract is up in 2010, but have no idea when in 2010; could be early or later. I've heard that when the 4G comes out that it will be with Verizon. Just wondering if anyone has inside information.

Odds in Verizon getting an iPhone anytime soon are next to nil as it would require a full overhaul of the radio inside. Not to mention other programming to accommodate a new/different network. Even if the contract ended today I would estimate at least 1-2 years before there was an iPhone on Verizon.

That being said - as tenuous as the ATT and Apple relationship is - I would bet that it continues.

Not that I believe that Verizon will get the iPhone, or really even care for that matter, who's to say that radio overhaul hasn't already taken place and they're just waiting for exclusivity to expire with AT&T? Or that they are currently working on it and/or have been since the release of the original?

There's no way to know these things.

I have a friend that is a janitor at an AT&T store, and he told me that Apple plans to start their own cell phone company and completely get rid of all relationships in the US. It's all part of their plan to overthrow the world.
