Hi Guys,
I'm a bit new to this.
Last year we purchased an Iphone X for my wife to use with a prepaid service Boom Mobile. I purchased it directly from apple, but since we were switching at the time, we had an active regular verizon account and purchased a verizon version of the phone and paid it in full.
fast forward to now, where we are unhappy with the way Boom has been performing. The Iphone X loses data service every other month. So we're switching ti Verizon prepaid for more consistent service (hopefully).
So the big question for me, I'm going to upgrade my Iphone 6 to an Iphone XR at the release date. how do I do it? Can I purchase through apple and say I have Verizon on the website? or will that not work since its prepaid? Do I have to pay in full or can I do apple's payment plan? not sure what I want to do.

You won’t be able to preorder the Verizon version or do iUP without a postpaid Verizon account.

Your options are to pay full price once it’s released in store (either Apple or Verizon store, but I’ve heard stories where Verizon stores are hesitant to sell flagship phones for full price to prepaid customers), or wait for the sim free unlocked model to be released online.

I would pay in full, but with a catch if you want interest free financing. The Apple Rewards Barclays Card offers 12 months no interest financing by putting the total on your credit card once approved. It's a nice way to have flexibility.

Thanks
will Apple have an issue selling me one in store around launch?

I do find the second tier customer experience interesting... basically feeling like you have to beg for the privilege to spend $750

If stock is an issue, maybe. Not sure how reserving for in store pickup works if you’re not a postpaid subscriber. I always just wait for the sim free model. Either way, just tell them you’ll activate on your own and they should have no problem.

Verizon employees make all their commission selling unlimited plans and phone payment plans. Someone coming in to pay full retail for a prepaid plan is a waste of time and money.
