Verizon told me iPhone coming in July

So I went into Staples get a $6 iPad holder. As soon as I walked in I was attacked by a Verizon rep asking me about getting a new phone. I told him that I had an iPhone. He then told me not to renew my service since Verizon is getting the iPhone in July.

I chuckled on the inside. I wanted to tell him I seriously doubt your information since Apple (the keeper of secrets) has not mentioned it. I wonder if this was just a zealous sales rep or if Verizon is telling sales people to say the iPhone is coming.
 
The only people who know are the heads of Apple and Verizon. Sales people never get told anything relating to Apple's future products
 
Yeah I know, but thought it was pretty funny a bottom of the food chain was telling me that Verizon was getting the iPhone. Not that I'd switch to Verizon anyways.
 
Still, one wonders how much the cost would be. Would Verizon match AT&T prices or charge more..or less?

However, a sales peon is not likely to know if Verizon will have an iPhone or not.

not to mention that there are no verizon sales reps at staples. I work at staples, as an Easy Tech salesman, and I'm technically expected to be a "verizon sales rep" for the few verizon products we sell.
 
Verizon reps and sales people will be among the last to know. IMHO, anybody who reads MacRumors has a clearer and more timely picture of that event than anybody lower than Verizon Corporate Vice President.
 
One of my friends was asking me how I liked my iphone, because the man at the vzw store told him they would be getting their own iphone in May.

Pretty big joke.
 
The guy in my Verizon store said "next year" back in november...they really have no way to know that. They have as much info as anyone here...which is just speculation. I believe there is a good chance of it happening and it may be why they are saying it's coming this year--but really at the end of the day it's just a game of probability. And it may not come in the end, though I suspect it will.

So he basically said what people keep spewing out here?
 
I think it will happen but not this July. AT&T and Apple will have a exclusive clause in their contract. I think next July it might happen but no one knows except for those select few.

I heard on the news that Apple lost the solo act on the iphone and
they were working on one for Verizon now.
But who knows.
