Version of Windows for gaming via bootcamp?

I do very little gaming, but its something that I like to partake in then and now when I have the time. I'm considering buying a 20" 2.4 Ghz iMac with 2 GB of RAM and installing either XP or Vista through bootcamp.

Personally, since I'll be using the Windows partition occasionally at best, I want to minimize my expense on it. I'd really like to go with Vista Home, as I have no need for any of the OS features whatsoever. However, is there any limitation in Vista Home that's going to affect gaming performance? Should I consider Home Premium or higher? My understanding is that Vista in the long run will be a bit better for game performance and I've heard positive things about DirectX10.

If you do "very little gaming" then why worry about DX10?

Win XP, all the way. Home version. You can even find an OEM version on Amazon for under $100.

Me I just ordered XP soley for gaming as well. The games I'm interested in playing(UT3, Orange Box, older FPS ers) don't need DX10 to look decent enough for my tastes.

DX10 sucks
Unless you want to play Halo2, get Vista.

If not, stick with XP. It's more stable, and most games (newer ones that are coming out) are still supporting DX9, which is lab proven, runs better in XP than Vista for some reason.
I am currently playing Orange Box (TF2) and it's super pretty...good framerates, almost all settings on high...etc
