Vertical cyan line showing up on MacBook Pro 17" screen

Hi, I had not used my MacBook Pro 17" for a few months. It was stored inside a cabinet with nothing on top of it. When I turned it on, I noticed a cyan vertical line was developed on the screen. I also noticed strange smell coming out from the laptop when it was turned on. What caused these? Is the screen damaged?

Sad to say but probable cracked screen.It doesn't take much.Thin rubber camera cover did mine in.

If I could choose between a brand new MacBook Pro 17" (12 years old) and a M1 MacBook Pro 16", I would still chose the 17" one.
