Why don't you just initialize the password upon unlocking?
It would still ne nice to be able to share your iPad with someone else but protect sensitive emails.
Dear apple why can't I at least have the option to password protect my email? I don't want everyone who looks at my iPad browsing my mail.
I would be willing to pay for an aftermarket solution but that doesn't exist either.

What happens when you hand them your MacBook?
But seriously, as a workaround you could create more than one e-mail account and leave it back at the account selection screen. They would have to tap twice but it might slow them down. Or you could ask them to not open the mail application because it is personal. Or put the mail app on the last page.
Unfortunately, none of those solve your problem.
mbox Mail has a password protection function. I know that they are preparing an App for the iPad, and I have a feeling this will help you out buddy.

I've been using it now for 3 Hotmail Accts and 1 Gmail, and it works flawlessly! Hopefully then they release the iPad version it will be just as GREAT!
I hope this gives you SOME hope for future apps!![]()
You can keep the mail app closed on your MacBook though. What happens when you hand them your MacBook?![]()

I don't have a macbook- the reason I love the Ipad and the idea of it being a social device.
Perfect example - got it Saturday and took it to grandmas for Easter dinner. She absolutely loved scrolling through vacation photos, videos etc. I like being able to pass it around at a family gathering to everyone without having personal emails displayed.
