My MAC can't even keep track of my browsing history. How hard could that be??? I do a google search on some subject - visit first listing that looks interesting. It isn't - so I want go back to the search to try another suggestion. Guess what my MAC (safari) can't find it - have to start all over - do another search. Repeat the mindless exercise. The original search is not in the history listing. Very frustrating - What am I doing wrong?? Why can't I just go back a page??????

Who knows? Hard to guess without iMac model and operating system. Do you have the backwards and forwards arrows displayed in Safari? Normally up to last 24 hours available in History.

Also Under Safari > Preferences > General what is Remove history items set up at?

In Safari, check:

Safari -> Preferences -> General -> Remove history items (what is this set to?)

Also, make sure you aren't browsing in a Private Window by accident. Your history is not saved in private browsing windows (private browsing windows have a dark address field, instead of the usual light-coloured one)

Remove history items after 1 week.

I don't believe that I use Private Windows
